Looks like we are staying. We are cleared to buy a home in Telford, on Erie Ave. Closing is May 18…to sell our house in Downingtown, and buy this home just up the road from Advent.
What else has been happening?
An amazing Installation event on April 8. Advent really “showed off” in a good way, with energy, amazing gifts and talents, wonderful hospitality. The worship was uplifting, the music was amazing, the dinner was fabulous, and the people – well, y’all are awesome and I’m so grateful to be your pastor. Thank you!
Confirmation reboot. After taking Lent off from classes (but not from confirmation activity, since youth and mentors led a wonderful Lenten series of reflections) I did some planning with Carrie Ryan and Shirl DeVoll, and we started with a class of parents and youth – some time together, some time split up. Fun, faith, fellowship…it was a good (re)start. A few more classes before the 8th graders are confirmed on May 20, but we’re already working on plans to keep engaging that group of growing, faith-filled youth.
Visits and conversations … with ministry leaders, new worshipers, homebound members, and people dealing with illnesses, hurts, and losses. Those can be some of the strongest God-moments.
Two workshop/training events. I journeyed to Dallas for a national stewardship (generosity) conference. Two biggest takeaways – having a clear mission and purpose is essential; and, people in Dallas are amazingly nice, even if you are wearing Eagles Super Bowl gear. I also participated in the one-day SEPA synod “Healthy Boundaries” training. This is required of rostered leaders [pastors and deacons] every 5 years, talking about self-care, self-awareness, and healthy pastoring. Good for me and for the congregation.
