What an adventure we had at Splash Canyon VBS this year. We had a total of 52 campers aged 4 through entering 5th grade. Most of our campers are from the community. It’s such a wonderful thing to see all of these children from different churches, come together and travel on their faith journey. New friends are made, old friends are reconnected, and fun is had by all!
This week told us all about “God’s Promises on Life’s Wild Ride.” Each day we learned about one of the promises God makes to us, like life, hope, and faithfulness. It was an adventure every day as we learned our bible stories, created crafts, learned some catchy songs, played fun games and ate some yummy snacks. This year, we also tie dyed t-shirts in shades of blue to tie into our theme and remind us of our baptism.
On top of the 52 campers, we had around 40 volunteers help throughout the week. Many of our volunteers are still just beginning their journey and learning about God’s promises themselves. As I look on my chart of volunteers, it makes me smile. Many of these helpers were just campers themselves, others, campers when I first started volunteering 12 years ago. Jesus worked through His servant’s hearts to share His saving love!
Reflecting on my week as director, I have hope for our future. Our campers, volunteers, and generosity of our church family show that there is kindness in the world. I see people every day living the life that Jesus would want us to live. They spread hope, share in their faith, and remind me every day why we do this! Thank you for your support, kind words and dedication to the growth of the children on our church and community. May you continue to see God’s Promises.
